Content Standards
How we research, write, update and correct MOTR content.
Last updated: May 2026
All MOTR guides, comparisons, and vehicle reviews are written by human editors with automotive knowledge. We do not publish AI-generated editorial content without human review and verification.
We only publish factual claims we can verify from official sources (DVLA, DVSA, SMMT, manufacturer data) or reputable automotive publications.
Opinions and recommendations are clearly distinguished from factual data. When we recommend a vehicle or product, we explain why.
Content is reviewed and updated when regulations, pricing, or data changes materially. Each piece displays its published and last-modified date.
Vehicle specs and ownership cost estimates are reviewed annually at minimum. MOT-related regulations are reviewed whenever DVSA guidance changes.
Outdated content is either updated or removed. We do not leave stale information live without a disclaimer.
MOT and tax data comes from DVLA/DVSA official APIs. Fuel price data from BEIS/DfT. Insurance group data from Thatcham Research. CO₂ data from manufacturer type approval certificates.
Third-party statistics are cited with source and date. We do not present statistics without attribution.
When we use estimates (e.g. annual ownership costs), we state they are estimates and explain our methodology.
MOTR has no financial relationships with vehicle manufacturers, insurers, garages or any automotive commercial entity that influences our editorial content.
We do not accept payment for coverage, recommendations, or favourable reviews. Our content is not influenced by advertising relationships.
If MOTR ever introduces sponsored content, it will be clearly and prominently labelled as such, separate from editorial content.
We correct factual errors promptly. If you spot an error, please contact us at contact@motr.uk with 'Correction' in the subject line.
Significant corrections are noted at the foot of the relevant page with the correction date. Minor typographical corrections are made silently.
We do not delete or hide factual corrections — accuracy and transparency are more important than appearances.
MOTR uses AI to power the in-app assistant and vehicle health scoring. These features are clearly labelled as AI-generated.
AI-generated content in the app is advisory only. It is not a substitute for professional mechanical advice, legal guidance, or official DVLA/DVSA data.
Our published guides and articles on motr.uk are written and edited by humans. AI tools may assist in research but do not author published content.
